Victory for India.. only the beginning yet!
As Anna Hazare ended his fast today, hundreds of thousands of Indians celebrated the victory... The government has given-in to the demands of Anna and fellow Indians in constituting a 10-member Joint Committee of ministers and civil society activists, including Anna, to draft an effective Lok Pal Bill.
Curtains are drawn on the anti-corruption campaign that drew instant nationwide support with a little girl giving the 73-year-old activist a glass of water at 10.45 am at Jantar Mantar, the nerve-centre of the agitation for a strong legislation to combat political and administrative graft. This is a welcome change in the mindset of the Indian people that have thus far treated corruption as an incurable infection of the society. It is heartening to see every Indian - within the country and outside - coming together, supporting and championing the cause against corruption in the country. As have been proven time and again, online and multimedia have far reaching impact on the fabric of the society and are catalysts to change. It does not matter where you are - as long as you are tuned in and do your part.
Its time for celebration now.. but, Hey!... lets keep in mind... this is only the beginning.
