Anniversary of Sorts

Its that time of my blogging era and I looked back and read some of my initial posts. I also read some of the current posts of the people who kinda initiated me into blogging with their own writing. Wow! it does seem like a short time.. just about a year into my journey thro' the blogosphere!

Interesting.. and I am sure the future has many more in store of which I dont even an inkling of.

I was also searching for my post on the movie 'Chokher Bali', but couldnt find it. :)
Anyways, it is a fantastic movie and here are some of my thoughts (as I can recollect now). Caution: It will make sense to you only if you have watched the movie.

"it is subtle 'n graceful.... a great movie..

I had a lot of 'why's on my mind at the end of it and was chewing over the movie.. almost a year back. And this is how I think I interpreted the movie..

Binodini was smitten by Behari, but he was unattainable.. or so she felt. Her despair and lust took over her and she gave in to Mahinder. But then, life (thro' Mahinder's wife) starts screaming at you when you are in the wrong lane and with time she realized that she was riding against the traffic of life.

Binodini walks out but still she doesnt know what. And when Behari comes, she offers herself to him. But he refuses (he also says something like 'I am here to get you back for Mahinder', doesnt he?) She realizes many more things and also that she has been short-sighted in her dealings with life. Thats why she walks away when Behari comes back for her, 'cos she didnt want to succumb to his short-sightedness now'.

BTW, did you know.. 'Chokher Bali' in bengali means 'an irritant in the eye' "

Anyways.. Good to meet ya.. Thank you folks!!

what do you mean by :
She realizes many more things and also that she has been short-sighted in her dealings with life..

short sightedness in life???

I haven't seen the movie but what I understood was that she was going through a struggle between love and freedom ???

you are welcome nyscha. Not really into 'art movies', but then I am not averse to watching off-beat movies either. I do like the techno art movies!

mandeep thats the problem.. you should watch it first and then try to understand the movie ;)

well.. when i say.. short-sightedness in life.. i mean.. someone doing things for just its immediate/short-term benefits and not being bothered about its long-term/hidden consequences.

I will bhasker - I shall read the book. The movie is still someone else's interpretation.....on second thoughts - I'll go for whatever I can lay my hands on first :-)
Before I came to your blog, I read another one -aketa's which also talked abt the same. May be - since it was a woman's interpretation that I could identify with it so fast. :-)
I still wonder though - out of my short signtedness of course :-))-how some of thoughts and actions fall into diff categories ....how much maturity is required for this - either of intellect or instinct.
What do people who lack these do ?
jayen to jayen kahan ....

Thats a good question.. what do people who lack those do?.. they would do anything they want and struggle with the consequences..

hi,
I love writing with pencil/pen on smooth sheets of paper. It kind of caresses me to write :-)) ....ok ...ok....leave this part out. I started with the electronic medium some time back but the stuff lies in the heart of my lap top, occasionally sent to some friends.
I'll send you the link once I start posting.
Meanwhile, I accept your remark/statement -
"they would do anything they want and struggle with the consequences.." ....
Mannn....this is how life is till you start getting those wisdom tooth pains ;-))
Do you read much ?
chao,

joey...isn't it lovely the way we see our own selves more clearly by reading the words we write. it is wise (and a bit courageous) for you to go back to the beginning and read your own progression. i started my site three months ago and just passed my 110th post. i think it is time for me to go back and see myself again...

mandeep will be my pleasure to read them..
yeah.. i used to read quite a bit.. but nowadays, i'm a li'l tied up with work and then, i also am finding more action-oriented stuff to do in my leisure.. and of course, blogging and blog-hopping. so, conventional reading is kinda slow.. currently crawling through (and enjoying) 'future shock' by Alvin Toffler.
how abt you?

I'm currently onto Narciuss and goldmund -herman hesse. I'm quite happy as I write this as I feel I have matured to understand the book and hence am able to read it. A couple of other reads by the same author have been very much unfruitful - I just fail to understand :-)

Herman Hesse sounded familiar.. and when i looked, i remembered Siddhartha. Small but powerful book. Quite philosophical..
Would be interesting to get my hands onto this one..

Reading is a passion for me and I feel - it is a book that chooses a reader (not buyer....haan...)! You may buy a book but it may resoultely refuse to part with what it contains till you grow up :-))
Onto Jane austen - she has also accepted me in her fold :-))!
what else is going on ? No new blogs.
