Drive..

Was my first drive to Chennai this weekend... What sexy roads... Thanks to Vajpayee and the bureaucrats who were the brains behind the golden quadrilateral, I could cover the distance in less than 6 hours. And it is such a pleasure to drive on these roads.

Though I did not get to beat my land speed record. The current record stands at 100 miles per hour or 160 kmph, on IH35 in Austin, Texas. I came pretty close to the record in this trip, 150kmph on NH46, Tamil Nadu. Anyways, the fun has just begun!!

I just peeped into your blog, by another blog who said Cogito which means what you are.
By the way, which stretch is the one that allowed you 150 kmph. I frequent the expressway between Mumbai and Pune, which does not allow any one to get in ( like your Is of US) except those occassional cattle!!! but never had the guts to go beyond 150 kmph in my svelte corolla. The stretch between Vaniyambadi and Ranipet never allowed me to go beyond 110 in the poor cousing called Innova

Mr. Speedster

I dont remember the exact stretch, but it was one of those newly built bypass flyovers.

I guess it is the personal comfort-level and the cattle and interruption-free nature of the route that lets one touch the top speeds...

I touched this speed on my journey to chennai at around 7 - 8am. I didnt cross 130kmph on my return.

You know your comfort levels and stay within that.

And unless it is a Merc or BMW, I guess, our cars are not built for 150+ kmph speeds.
